I’m a family doctor and professor of family medicine in the University of Duluth Family Medicine Residency Program. I moved to Duluth in October 2016 from Madison, Wisconsin, where I was a founding and active member of the Wisconsin Transgender Health Coalition. I am experienced in all forms of primary care for trans folks, including areas of mental and sexual health and hormone initiation and maintenance. I work in a group practice, and on some days I’m not available in clinic; should you need to be seen urgently on these days, there are resident physicians here who can see you (these are new doctors who are completing additional training). Since I am passionate about training family doctors to provide competent care to trans people, I think this is a good thing, but this may not be the preferred practice setup for all people. Final caveat: as of this writing (November 2016) the clinic staff here have not received special training in providing trans competent care. I hope to change this soon.
