I help people who are affected by the accumulated pain of stress, trauma and oppression. That pain can “show up” as depression, PTSD, self-harm, anxiety or difficulties in relationships.
I am fluent in Spanish and English and provide culturally relevant therapy in both languages. Common issues that I address include immigration and acculturation stress, complex trauma, relationship and family violence and exploring gender identity. I have particular experience in adolescent mental health, LGBTQ mental health, and Latinx mental health.
I practice from a trauma-informed perspective and incorporate mindfulness, empowerment and mind-body techniques into our work. I draw on all my experience and might reference my dance training or a good book as well as therapy models. I am trained in Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Exposure Therapy and EMDR; I have advanced training in transgender mental health (including using an informed consent model in support of medical interventions).
